The so-called Clash you see is mostly centered on economics, dignity, and the want to escape exploitation. The people who are killing our "troops" just happen to be Islamic. They also happen to have a close relationship to their beliefs and have allowed their beliefs to guide their social movement theory. Don't look to religion to get your big answers. Not when there's the West and oil involved.

I mean that there is a clash, although I do not know where the roots are from I know for sure that politicians on either side have had a negative role in it. But the difference between the democratic ideology and islam is there. But again there no reliable numbers on this so it is hard to judge.

Hey jaaproos, I'm not sure what you disagree with. The fact that we should leave them alone or that there are moderate Muslims who do adapt? Also thank you for being objective in your views rather than flying off the handle and calling me a terrorist simply for having my say. You have no idea how many morons on here claim that my defence of Muslims makes me a terrorist. It's pretty disturbing.

That is the problem with the entire discussion, you think this I think something else, but there is just a lack of resources and solid information.

I agree that in terms of extremism the Islamic religion seems to have a lot of extremists attributed to it. In saying that I believe we need to allow them to live their lives as they see fit and leave their land and oil alone. Don't forget there are a lot of moderate Muslims who slip right in to the West unnoticed because they do adapt but they do not get the coverage. Don't think I'm saying extremism doesn't exist, all I'm saying is that it's not as bad a problem as our media makes out.

BTW you are making the same mistake as CHomsky, you are pointing at governments, liaisons with SA, taliban are all geo-political not something from CIVILizations. You have no idea how much contempt there is in that part of the world for us.

But it shows the difference, your world view has a lot going for it but it is naief. Information is going round the world. 70% of the refugees in the world are in islamic countries, they all want to go to one place! THE WEST. But once there they do not want to adapt... Wake up KT, there is a clash..

Their lack of democracy is not our problem. We are democratic and we are happy that way. Allow them to run their countries the way they see fit. If human rights were truly an issue for us we would've done something about Saudi Arabia and Israel a long time ago. The fact that we haven't shows the West only uses these terms to suit their own imperialistic greed.

That is only partially true. On top of that it does not explain the problems with integration of large groups of muslims in the West nor does it explain the lack of democracy and human rights in those countries. America was never loved in that part of the world by the majority that is.

The contempt Muslims have for the West is born out of the West's foreign policies in what they consider to be their area. When America first arrived in the ME they were loved. Don't underestimate how much of an effect America's policies (including its unreserved support for Israel regardless of its atrocities) has on their thoughts of the West.
