TARZAN used that word as an all-purpose command. Lions are about to eat a person...he yells, "UN-GAWA" and the lions retreat. He says "UN-GAWA" to his monkey and the monkey brings him a plate of food. Locals are about to spear a woman. He looks at them and says "UN-GAWA" and they begin to fight each other. Johnny Weismueller may have been the best big screen Tarzan, but Ron Ely rules the small screen. Jakooka ::: Favorites Ron Ely played the part pretty well and Sy Weintraub the producer kept the approach pretty close to the original concept. Tarzan spoke perfect English for example. But the elephants and some of the monkeys are on the wrong continent.
