RockThatShamrock ::: Favorites 2007-11-11 10:18:51 This is a film where you can't catch everything the director is saying with a singlle viewing. Like every Kubrick film, it takes several viewings to fully appreciate. It's a masterpiece in every sense and definetly superior to Oliver Stone's "Platoon". __________________________________________________
eleanorgloria ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 03:23:07 I absolutely loved this film. It was amazing. Ebert as always misses the point of the film (check his reviews on Reservoir Dogs, and A Mighty Wind for example). Miss Siskel. Though I didn't always agree with him I felt her truely had a gift for critiquing unlike his counterpart. __________________________________________________
Kbaca ::: Favorites 2007-11-19 13:51:36 Recant, Ebert! It's not too late. Full Metal Jacket is a beautiful, surreal, and haunting film that explores contradictions between base emotions and intellect, while feeling like a dream. It's simple, stylized, and powerful. A great movie by a great Auteur. What's worse, Ebert considered it poor in comparison to Platoon!!!! Siskel was dead right; Ebert simply missed the mark. __________________________________________________
