Description: The second part in my little series on libertarian socialism. Here I briefly cover its potential impacts on the common person in the USA and how it differs from things like communism and state socialism. |

oyate1960 ::: Favorites Contemporary libertarianism was invented in America. It grew out of the Objectivist school (very recent history), but ended up radicalizing as aspect of traditional conservativism. We can talk about antiquated notions of anarcho-capitalism, anarcho syndicalism, classical liberalism and be no closer to a functional understanding. On the other hand, it's fund to see an engaged mind such as yours. 07-09-17 22:31:10 __________________________________________________
Jinchii ::: Favorites You guys are very confused on what your talking about. This seems to be an issue with Americans. I think it's from the public/government schooling/indoctrination. 07-09-17 22:31:01 __________________________________________________
dwcarkuff ::: Favorites Is that kind of like communistic capitolism??? Or totalitarian anarchy???? 07-09-17 17:46:50 __________________________________________________
oyate1960 ::: Favorites It doesn't hang together. It's like asking for Christian Satanism. Socialism requires coercive powers of the state to achieve it's objective of equalizing living conditions. Libertarianism simply sees another form of tyranny. 07-09-17 17:36:28 __________________________________________________
Clean97gti ::: Favorites You're talking about a different kind of socialism. You're talking about state socialism (dependence on the state to force equality). I am talking about libertarian socialism which ensures equality by keeping a ruling class out of power. Keeping an elite class away ensures that the people can manage things for everyones mutual benefit. In fact, it does away with the controlling state altogether instead relying on decentralized means of action. 07-09-17 17:54:02 __________________________________________________
cognoscenti11 ::: Favorites In such a system who actually would be controlling the big businesses like oil companies, defence production companies, stock exchanges, electronic and print media, etc. 07-09-17 18:26:14 __________________________________________________
Clean97gti ::: Favorites What big businesses? They wouldn't exist in the way we know them now. 07-09-17 18:57:31 __________________________________________________
oyate1960 ::: Favorites Actually, you had it closer in your video. You are talking about democracy, the dictatorship of the masses. Libertarianism uphold the rights of the individual against the masses or the state or other individuals. Democracy is the constant-yet never fulfilled promise of socialism. It's antithetical to the republican standard of libertarianism. 07-09-17 18:39:07 __________________________________________________
Clean97gti ::: Favorites There is more to democracy than tyranny of the majority. It could even be argued that our own representative democracy prevents that which Jefferson feared. Oh, and I'm not talking about the right wing version of libertarianism. In fact, that particular understanding of the word is basically unique to the USA. I'm speaking more of anarchism; the traditional definition of libertarianism. 07-09-17 19:49:06 __________________________________________________
