Description:
Video from RUSH IN RIO DVD 2003 (Ill try to get a clearer sounding version up soon.) Natural Science from Permanent Waves 1980 [1. Tide Pools] When the ebbing tide retreats Along the rocky shoreline It leaves a trail of tidal pools In a short-lived galaxy Each microcosmic planet A complete society A simple kind mirror To reflect upon our own All the busy little creatures Chasing out their destinies Living in their pools They soon forget about the sea... Wheels within wheels in a spiral array A pattern so grand and complex Time after time we lose sight of the way Our causes can't see their effects [2. Hyperspace] A quantum leap forward In time and in space The universe learned to expand The mess and the magic Triumphant and tragic A mechanized world out of hand Computerized clinic For superior cynics Who dance to a synthetic band In their own image Their world is fashioned No wonder they don't understand [3. Permanent Waves] Science, like nature Must also be tamed With a view towards its preservation Given the same State of integrity It will surely serve us well Art as expression Not as market campaigns Will still capture our imaginations Given the same State of integrity It will surely help us along The most endangered species The honest man Will still survive annihilation Forming a world State of integrity Sensitive, open and strong Wave after wave will flow with the tide And bury the world as it does Tide after tide will flow and recede Leaving life to go on as it was... |

bluenote71 ::: Favorites The acoustic tone that Alex gets from his PRS at the beginning of this tune his great. Is he using those pressure sensing pickups in the bridge saddles? 07-07-25 22:18:41 _____________________________________________________
jdk2k2 ::: Favorites Yup, I would bet money those are the Graphtech GHOST Piezo replacement saddles for the PRS Tremolo system - you can get them for Strat-style trems and in Tune-O-Matics too. The black saddles are a giveaway. It's a clean install too! But heck it better be if Big Al is playing it. 07-08-10 01:08:54 _____________________________________________________

ePhilosopher ::: Favorites yes, again, i got the chills. this is so perfectly awesome. never imagened them getting floored, though. just reflecting on my own.... 07-07-15 17:41:38 _____________________________________________________
yeshead ::: Favorites wot2 is what's commonly known as a troll. Please don't feed the trolls, it only encourages them. About this song, it is certainly Rush' most prog-rock-ish and a great example of how a band can still play tricky and complex parts but still rock and groove. About this recording, the epic size of the setting and crowd are a fitting match to the piece. And when 60,000 Brazilians start singing along toward the end I'll bet Geddy and Alex were pretty much floored! 07-07-13 15:40:04 _____________________________________________________
fedroger ::: Favorites This song has form of it's own. There's nothing like it. "All the busy litle creatures chasing out their destinies." Love it!! 07-07-12 06:48:04 _____________________________________________________ |
