tsintagi ::: Favorites This damn animation, even though does have artistic beauty is instantly ugly due to the Sambo-minstrel character of the spider. Why in hell did Japanese have to use such a negative view of Blacks, a people who weren't not even living in Japan. Most, if not all Japanese had no contact with Blacks, and therefore degraded a people they knew nothing about. 07-07-10 10:53:41 _____________________________________________________
tsintagi ::: Favorites The Japanese use of racism in this animation is totally unfounded, because blacks were NOT living in Japan. They merely adopted America's sick and hateful attitude towards Blacks. How convenient. I've been to Japan, and the Japanese are a strange funny people who are hopeless racists. I can imagine they were no different back then during the time of this animation. Maybe today some Japanese racism towards blacks might have something to do with negative events, but back then...no way! 07-07-10 11:01:05 _____________________________________________________

danrob8 ::: Favorites Spectacular!...and this was 20 years before "Astroboy", "Kimba" and "Speed Racer". This was while the Japanese were fighting us and conquering China; they still had time to create fine animated cartoons like this. You don't even have to know japanese to follow the plot. 07-07-14 01:03:41 _____________________________________________________

mightyfilm ::: Favorites They clearly were copying the racism that American cartoons in that time. Of course, when it was no longer correct to mock blacks in American cartoons, they started idiotic Asian stereotypes and mexican stereotypes in the 60's. 07-08-06 10:42:15 _____________________________________________________
